Hackathon build Pharmacy in Your Pocket

Prescriptions and the medicines you buy yourself in one place, with plain-English interaction flags. Started at a hackathon, finished afterwards.

The demo film’s opening frame: the app’s home screen beside the line 'Sign in with Face ID, and your NHS prescriptions are already there' (demo data)

The challenge

People mix NHS prescriptions with over-the-counter medicines and nobody sees the whole picture.

What I did

  • Designed the mobile app at the hackathon
  • Built it out afterwards into a working 11-screen prototype
  • Kept it legally careful: no graded risk levels, 'not medical advice' throughout
  • Produced a 65-second demo film

Outcomes

  • Working prototype with mocked data
  • Demo film

The demo

A 65-second walkthrough of the working prototype, with an AI-voiced narration. Sample data for a fictional patient; information only, not medical advice.
Read the narration
  1. Taking a few different medicines? Pharmacy in Your Pocket keeps them all together, in one place.
  2. Sign in with Face ID, and your NHS prescriptions are already there.
  3. Add the ones you buy yourself, too — private and over-the-counter, side by side.
  4. Adding one takes seconds. Scan the barcode on the box, and the details fill themselves in.
  5. Or simply type it in, like ibuprofen from the supermarket.
  6. Before it’s saved, it’s checked against everything else you take. Ibuprofen and Ramipril can interact, so you’re told straight away, in plain English.
  7. Each one is explained simply: what it may affect, and where the information comes from — ready to talk through with your GP.
  8. When you see your GP, share it all: a clear summary, a ready-made PDF, or a QR code they can scan.
  9. And your NHS record keeps itself up to date, or you can sync it yourself, any time.
  10. Pharmacy in Your Pocket. Every medicine, in one place.
