Privacy. What this site collects, and why.

Very little. Cookies only if you say yes.

Who runs this site

Me, Jack Murton. Any question about your data goes to jack@jackmurton.com.

Counting visits, without cookies

Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views, which pages are read, the site you came from and your type of browser. It uses no cookies and builds no profile of you.

Google Analytics, only if you accept

If you click Accept, Google Analytics sets two cookies (_ga and _ga_…), which last up to two years, to tell visits apart, and records the pages you view, roughly where you are (country or city) and your device and browser. I use it to see which work people read. Google Analytics keeps this visit-level data for no more than 14 months, under its own privacy policy (opens in a new tab).

If you decline, it never loads. You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the foot of every page; declining also removes its cookies from this site. Your choice itself is saved in your browser, not in a cookie, so you are not asked again.

When you send a message

The message form sends your name, email address, company (if you give one), what it’s about, the length of engagement you have in mind (if you give one) and your message to my inbox, through Cloudflare’s email service. I use them only to reply and, if we work together, to run that work. They are never added to a mailing list or shared.

When you book a call

Booking happens on Google Calendar’s booking page. Google handles what you enter there under its privacy policy, and I receive it as a calendar invite.

Hosting

Cloudflare hosts this site and, like any web host, briefly processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver pages and keep the site secure.

Why, and for how long

I rely on your consent for Google Analytics, and on my legitimate interest in running this site and replying to you for everything else. I keep messages and booking details for as long as we are in touch, or as long as our work together needs them, and then delete them. Cloudflare and Google may process data outside the UK, under their own safeguards for international transfers.

Your rights

You can ask what I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how I use it, and you can withdraw consent to analytics at any time with Cookie settings. Email jack@jackmurton.com. If you are unhappy with how I have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (opens in a new tab).
